Bringing our RE curriculum to life through an exciting Hindu workshop!

Today, our children had a fantastic opportunity to deepen their understanding of Hinduism through an engaging and interactive workshop.
As part of our bespoke Abingdon Religious Education (RE) curriculum, we believe it is important for children to learn about different religions, beliefs and ways of life. These experiences help our children develop their knowledge of the world, ask thoughtful questions and understand the diverse communities around them.
The workshop brought learning to life, giving children the chance to explore Hindu beliefs, traditions and practices in a memorable and hands-on way. It encouraged curiosity, discussion and reflection, helping children to make connections with their previous learning while discovering something new.
Experiences like this are about more than learning facts. They help our children develop the understanding, kindness and respect needed to live in a diverse society.
The workshop also provided a wonderful opportunity to put our ARCH values into action:
- Ambition: Showing curiosity, asking questions and being eager to learn about the world.
- Respect: Valuing different beliefs, traditions and ways of life, even when they are different from our own.
- Collaboration: Sharing ideas, listening to others and learning together.
- Honesty: Being open-minded, sharing our thoughts and being willing to reflect on what we discover.
Our learning also strongly supports the British Values:
- Mutual Respect: Understanding and respecting people with different faiths, beliefs and backgrounds.
- Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs: Recognising that everyone has the right to follow their own beliefs and that our differences make our communities special.
- Individual Liberty: Understanding that people are free to make their own choices about their beliefs and values.
- Democracy: Listening to different viewpoints, sharing opinions and recognising that everyone’s voice matters.
- The Rule of Law: Understanding the importance of shared rules, rights and responsibilities in helping everyone live together fairly.
At Abingdon, we want our children to grow into thoughtful, confident and respectful citizens who celebrate diversity and understand the world around them.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this workshop such a valuable learning experience.
Different beliefs, shared respect and a world of learning!
