Running on Resilience! Our Cross Country Team Make Us Proud

Mud, challenging conditions and tough competition couldn’t stop our amazing Abingdon athletes.

What a fantastic effort from our Abingdon Cross Country Team. Our children took to the course to represent our school, showing incredible determination, resilience and team spirit in some extremely challenging conditions.

It certainly wasn’t an easy run. The course tested our athletes, with difficult conditions making every step a challenge. But our children never gave up. They kept pushing themselves, encouraged one another and showed exactly what it means to be part of the Abingdon team.

We were particularly delighted to see two of our amazing athletes take home silver medals. Their fantastic performances earned them the opportunity to go on and represent Middlesbrough at the regional event. What an incredible achievement! We wish them both the very best as they take on their next challenge.

However, at Abingdon, we know that success in sport is about so much more than medals and finishing positions. It is about the effort, attitude and character shown along the way.

Throughout the competition, our children demonstrated our ARCH values brilliantly:

  • Ambition: Pushing themselves, setting goals and striving to be the best they can be.
  • Respect: Supporting teammates, respecting competitors and showing good sportsmanship.
  • Collaboration: Encouraging one another and celebrating each other’s achievements.
  • Honesty: Showing determination, fairness and pride in their own efforts.

Most importantly, our team showed fantastic resilience. When things got tough, they kept going. When the course became challenging, they dug deep. They demonstrated that true success is about refusing to give up, even when things get difficult.

We are incredibly proud of every child who represented Abingdon. You showed courage, determination and wonderful team spirit, and you were brilliant ambassadors for our school.

A huge congratulations to our two silver medallists and best of luck at the regional event. We will all be cheering you on!

It’s not just how fast you run, but how much heart you show along the way.

One team. One school. Never give up!
