Teamwork Makes the Dream Work at the Middlesbrough Rugby Festival

Proud to wear the Abingdon badge, brilliant teamwork and our ARCH values shining through

What a fantastic day for Abingdon at the Middlesbrough Rugby Festival! Our children had a wonderful time taking part, showing great enthusiasm, determination and, most importantly, what it means to be part of a team.

Throughout the festival, our children represented Abingdon brilliantly. They threw themselves into every challenge, supported one another and showed real commitment. There were moments of excitement, plenty of smiles and some fantastic examples of teamwork.

Of course, sport is about winning, but at Abingdon we know that the most important victories are not always measured in medals or trophies. They are found in the encouragement given to a teammate, the courage to keep trying, the determination to get back up after a setback and the pride that comes from achieving something together.

Our children demonstrated our ARCH values throughout the day:

  • Ambition: Giving everything a go, challenging themselves and showing determination to improve.
  • Respect: Playing fairly, listening to others and showing respect to teammates, opponents and officials.
  • Collaboration: Working together, communicating and understanding that every team member has something important to contribute.
  • Honesty: Showing good sportsmanship, playing fairly and taking responsibility for their actions.

These are the moments that make us proud. Seeing children encourage each other, celebrate one another’s efforts and work together towards a shared goal is exactly what we want sport at Abingdon to be about.

Taking part in events like this also helps our children develop confidence, resilience, friendships and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity. They learn that being part of a team means supporting each other through the good moments and the challenging ones.

A huge well done to every child who took part. You wore your Abingdon badge with pride, showed fantastic character and were wonderful ambassadors for our school.

We couldn’t be prouder.

Remember, it’s not always about the medals you bring home; it’s about the teamwork, friendships, memories and values you take with you.

One team. One school. One very proud Abingdon.
