Our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils have each enjoyed a fantastic day visiting a working farm in Glaisdale, thanks to our ongoing partnership with the Country Trust. ๐ฑ๐
Across their separate visits, the children had the opportunity to experience real farm life first-hand. They met the farm dog, fed chickens and cows, enjoyed tractor rides, explored the open green meadows and discovered the farm woodland, including sampling some woodland sorrel! ๐ฟ
There were plenty of muddy wellies, tractor rides, laughter and happy faces along the way! ๐ฅพ๐๐
The visits provided valuable opportunities to bring learning from the Year 3 and Year 4 curriculum to life, developing children’s understanding of plants, animals, habitats, farming and the natural environment through first-hand experiences.
Just as importantly, the experience supported our commitment to developing the whole child. Being outdoors, trying new experiences and exploring somewhere different encouraged our pupils to demonstrate curiosity, resilience, independence and a willingness to learn.
Our sense of belonging, aspiration, commitment, resilience and harmony runs through everything we do. Experiences such as these help children understand the world beyond the classroom, appreciate their local environment and develop the confidence to explore new opportunities.
The children were described as well behaved, inquisitive, imaginative and great fun, making them a fantastic credit to Abingdon Primary School and their grown-ups. ๐
Two fantastic days, wonderful children and lots of memories made! ๐ณ๐๐
