Sports, Fun and Fitness

At Abingdon Primary School we aim to provide a broad and balanced physical education programme. Our aims in teaching P.E. are that all children will:

  1. Develop confidence and competence in a range of activities and skills.
  2. Acquire a positive attitude towards and an enjoyment of physical activity.
  3. Engage in competitive sports and activities.
  4. Begin to see physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle.
  5. Be able to take part in physical activity for sustained periods of time.
  6. Learn to work in co-operation with others.

We seek to do this through our planned school curriculum programme, the broad enrichment activities available in our out of hours programme and engaging with world, national and local campaigns to keep sport and healthy lifestyles at the core of our families values.

Clubs

We provide a range of extra-curricular activities and try to have as many children involved as possible. Most clubs take place immediately after school, starting at 3.05pm and finishing at 4.00pm. Club activities can change from term to term and over the year have included the following:

Sports

  • Football (Y5/6)Boys & Girls
  • Football (Y3/4) Boys & Girls
  • Tag Rugby
  • Kwik Cricket
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Running Club / Fitness
  • Netball
  • Gymnastics

There are also other clubs available onsite at various times of the year, organized by various validated providers.
