At Abingdon Primary School, we feel it is important to enable children to have as many different experiences as possible especially. We encourage and facilitate the children to take part in different activities and events through liaising with establishments such as Teesside University, MIMA, Middlesbrough Council, other educational establishments and local sporting facilities. These may be opportunities to take part in arts, sports, music, drama or cultural events; to listen and watch artists, musicians, illustrators or authors, or to visit places they would not ordinarily have the chance to attend, in order to allow the children to see what the world has to offer them and to help them become confident, creative and well-rounded young people.
We also offer a range of after school clubs such as the steel pan band, choir, gymnastics, running club, tag rugby, art club and gardening club – to name but a few. There is also the opportunity for children in KS2 to join our ‘stay and play’ after school club which is held every day from 3pm until 3.30. This gives the children the opportunity to socialize with their peers in a safe environment.
